Yes, that's what it is.  I had the car for at least a month before I realized
it was there.  It looks just big enough to cover the gap between the rear
view mirror and the top of the windshield.  Useless?  Well, I haven't had
the need to use it since I discovered it, but if the sun ever just happens
to be in the wrong place when you're on a long, straight road, you'll
appreciate it.

Actually, like cup holders, sun visors seem to be one of the areas where
American automotive technology is clearly superior.  Some American cars have
two full sets of sun visors, so that if you swing one over to cover the side
window, you have a backup for the windshield.  Others have telescoping visors
that can grow to twice their normal size.  Combine that with half a dozen cup
holders capable of storing 32 oz of beverage each, and you'll see that
European car makers had better stop fiddling with things like AWD and
traction control and focus on the important stuff if they want to catch up to
American technology.
