Advice on Pricing a V8
Dear Q-Netters:
For various reasons not related to the car itself I'm putting my 1990 V8
on the market soon. In researching the value of the thing, I find a
huge variations.
The car has 78K miles, I'm the original owner (still have the window
sticker), all services done (timing belt, O2 sensor, UFO rotors, etc.),
really good condition mechanically and cosmetically. I boutht it in
Denver in '90, and I'll be selling it in Colorado Springs.
Here's what I've found on prices:
Dealer #1: offered $9,900 (sight unseen)
Dealer #2: offered $10,200 (my servicing dealer in Colo. Spgs.)
NADA December Book (Rocky Mtn Ed.): $12,900 trade-in, $15,250 retail
Kelley Blue Book online: $13,150 trade-in, $20,230 retail
Dealer #2 advertised a '91 V8 in today's Colorado Springs paper for
$19,995, and this is the first one I've seen available in this town for
a while.
So, what do you think I should offer it at? (If you're interested in
buying it, don't answer that question :)
