Race Car  magazine (a British mag, 1996, Vol 6, No. 6) has a special section
in the most recent issue dedicated to rally cars.  A large part of the
section is spent on lights.
I'll read it and try to give a synopsis for those who can't find the article.  
There's also an article about the A4  STW car.
There's also a lot of good information about lights and light in the "Robert
Bosch Automotive Handbook", a quite expensive pocket book that seems to be
the alpha and omega of engineering knowlege.

I think the mag is really called Race Car Engineering, but it says "RACECAR"
in a big red and white logo on the cover.  The "Engineering" bit is small
and on the right below the logo.
