RE: 1st Snow in My A4

I live NW of Boston and we got about 12" of wet heavy snow last night. I am
so glad I was in my 97 A4Q since most of the roads were unplowed and quite
treacherous. In some parts the snow was 3/4 of the way up my wheels,
spraying out to the side and over the roof as I traversed through the
untouched snow. I was amazed that I could get going once I stopped in the
stuff.

Anyway, I must agree with the defrost system. Since it was wet snow, and I
was damp when I got in the car, the windows fogged up immediately because
the moisture evaporating from my clothes was condensing on the cold windows.
Eventually the front and rear windshields cleared up but the side windows
would not clear up, even after an hour of driving with the defrost on. I too
wish you could somehow override the system and turn on the AC also.

Well, we just had our first snow here in the good old northeast US of A
and I must tell you, I was looking forward to taking my 97 A4Q out to
play.
Boy was I disappointed! No, it wasn't the Q-system, I guess it worked
just fine. And I know the ABS was working - I felt that. But for a
'winter' car with an aditional winter package, the car sure has some
dinky little skinny and streaky windshield wipers that were pretty much
useless.
But that's not all, folks. The heavy and moist air fogged up all the
windows within 2 minutes of when the auto-heat came on. "No problemo," I
though and pushed the AC button hoping to dehumidify the air. But noooo:
Hanz und Klaus back in Bayerwaldenburgenstrasse decided I 'vil not need
aircondition im Vinter!' Completely fogged up, I almost went off the
road.
Wow, what a safety feature!
