If you accelerate in 2nd and then let up the accelerator, you will get a 
bang from the rear of the car.  Jack the rear wheels up one at a time and 
inspect the rear diff while trying to rotate the wheel back and forth.  If 
you have a problem, you will see a lot of movement and probably hear bangs 
from the disintegrated mounting rubbers.

Replacement of the two front mounting rubbers is really easy.  All you need 
are some spanners and a jack to hold up the side of the diff you are working 
on.

I didn't replace the rear mounting in mine, because I don't think it was 
worn, and the diff needs to be removed so it can be pressed out.

After replacing the mounting rubbers, I was able to disengage the CENTRE 
diff lock for the first time in 50,000 miles without going into reverse!
