The Haynes manuals have an excellent British/American cross reference at the
front.  

Having a Bentley now I would definitley nominate the Haynes as the poor
man's runner up.  But ... Chilton will have the occasional procedure or
drawing or spec the Haynes doesn't have.  Solution - get all three, look at
all three before you leap.
