RE: Engine swap possibilities

If it is a 1991 Coupe quattro, type 89, rounded styling, you could drop
a 3B 20v turbo motor in fairly easily, although *not* fairly cheaply.
Kent Anderson (http://www.karquattro.com) has one listed. This would put
you pretty close to an S2, which never made it to the USA. There would
still be some differences, like 5x112 bolt circle 16" wheels, different
sway bars, acceptable headlights, a different hood and different front
and rear bumpers.

The original motor for the type 89 Coupe quattro in the USA is the 7A
20v 2.3l non-turbo motor. 164hp, 157lb-ft, loves to live at 3500 and
above. This car was only imported into the USA for the 1990 and 1991
model years, and only 1730 were imported.

What happened to the motor to cause it to go away?

I've been collecting tidbits about the Coupe quattro, I'll send it if
you'd like.
