Re: Offset (formerly wheel fantasy)
I can't believe we're still talking about offset, but here's my $.02 worth:
I've been researching new wheels for the summer time for my V8 --at least I
try to plan ahead. According to the Tire Rack -and I really think they know
what they're talking about (even if their english skills aren't the best):
"Zero Offset: The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the
wheel.
Positive Offset (a.k.a. Audi): The hub mounting surface is toward the front
or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on
front wheel drive cars or the newer rear drive cars.
Negative Offset: The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side
of the wheels centerline. 'Deep dish' wheels are typically a negative
offset."
If you still can't picture it, check out their Homepage and click on "Wheel
Offset"
