Get the suspension setup measured professionally on a BEM Mueller or 
Pro-Align bench.

The rear tie-rods are the major cause - if one of the rear wheels takes a heavy 
bang, the tie-rod has to absorb most of the energy.  On a front wheel, some can 
be dissipated through the steering.  It's not uncommon to find a rear wheel 
several degrees out.  Ur-quattros in particular _HATE_ drain covers and 
potholes.  Stay in the middle of the carriageway.
