Snow tires

I like hoop-style chains. They're attached to a length of thick
plastic-covered cable bent into a circle, with a fitting that lets you open
and close the circle at one point. When you put them on, the cable goes on the
inner face of the tire and helps the chains keep their shape and drape over
the tire. You can install them w/o hitching the car back and forth, which is a
big plus. The lower your frustration tolerance, the more strongly I recommend
them. The ones I got (from Al's Auto Supply, Seattle) are Whitestar; there may
be other brands for all I know.
