Why AUDI's KICK ASS

Bob certainly touched off a hot one. But many Audis, even non-quatts have
incredible traits. Audis combine great daily handling, superb ride
characteristics, safety features, practicality and even longevity. I just
ran into a guy with an '87 5000QTW and FUCHs who said "I put Ned Ritchies
chip in 100,000 miles ago. Still works flawlessly".

'82 Audi 5000. Since 1982, the benchmark sedan. See old Car and Driver
articles. Unbelievable ride, handling and luxury for the time and price. And
a HUGE trunk.
-'82 5000 turbo-one of the fastest, quickest sedans of it's time.
-5000/200 since 1984-the slipperiest sedan of all time.
-5000 turbo/200-one of the few sedans with a top speed of 140 mph
 -'82 4000 5+5-the nimble 4000 with the big engine
-'83-'87 Coupe. Perhaps the most fun to daily drive Audi of all time.
Comfortable, tossable with a PRACTICAL rear seat that humans can use. The
whole thing is galvanized against corrision, too.
 -'84-'87 4000 quattro-a great car, period.

As for LOOKS
-any Audi 5000/200 with FUCHS wheels is as exciting as a Ferrari!
-the '90 20V Coupe with Speedline wheels and pearl paint is better looking
than Madonna! (too bad the trunk is so small and there's no head room in the
rear)
-The flares/wheels of any UR Quattro speak for themselves
 -S4/S6's and '91 200's are bitchin', too
-5000/200 AVANTS-coolest looking wagon I've ever seen (RS2R being an
exception)
-the A4 is completely kick ass looking. Probably one of the most pleasing
car shapes ever.

CAVEAT: Buy 'em used.
Thank goodness for 60 minutes. If it wasn't for the bad PR, I certainly
would't be a two-time Audi owner. Audis are great-bought used. New, they
were ungodly expensive. I can't believe my '89 would have cost me nearly 40
GRAND back then.

Automatic tranny's are power killers across all audis. ('cept maybe the new
5 spd manual in the A4 1.8T).
