Re: Bobbing for apples to oranges

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<huge snip>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And you woke the old redneck up. If'n the house don't slide down the
hill into Puget Sound and the power stays on for a few more minutes, I'll
offer a bit of friendly counterpoint. Three days off the Qlist is a bummer!
And no need to shout, young feller, I agree with Bob and Scott to a
point. But there ain't no cheap lunch on this here list... <-:) You
say sumpthin, dont no matter what, better unsheath your sword... and
put your nomex pantyhose on... real tight. I've got one of them rich
delete keys...it really says delete... but some just say del <G>

I'm not a racer. BTDT, was not worth a s*** and decided aerobatics best
left to aircraft... and was enjoying my Vincent HRD, n Black Shadow
more... Drive lotsa miles--100K a year plus, had lotsa cars. 5 BMW's
come to mind, in various sizes shapes up thru 7 series... same number
of Mazda RX's also a few MB ... also drive and feed both daughter's
rice...er Toyoters. As a highway driver I'll take my V8Q over any car
on the road, but second on my list is FWD Audi. I've put roughly 500K on
FWD Audis ... just recently drove wife's 100CS to TX and back (dunno
why I went, but sure know why I came back). As a joy to drive (yeah,
gutless), safe, predictable, dependable (since 1980 never a
breakdown) highway transport the Audi FWD is hard to beat. And every
time I go to an airport I rent something different just to check. No boy
racer the FWD. Just all great car. Could use a few more hosses, but she'll
do up in the high 120's with a bit of room... good enough. And if I had to
pick new wheels right now (with Bob D's money and my beauty) it would
be the A8 3.7 FWD. With studded whatevers all around I don't want to go
where it can't. I'm lucky, I know, I can fall back on a few 4X4's... this
week, for example, where my bro has 48"of snow still in his yard. Ooooohhh...
Dont even dream about the 4.2 Q. Just too much overkill for the US
unless you just want to impress..
I'll Prolly buy the new A6 when it comes out and hope the rear suspension
is improved a bit, and hope for a turbo or two--A8 just too pricey... and I
agree with you both, Scott and Bob -- Q's where it's at... but nothing but
Audi after that for me. Good for AOA that old fuds like me feel that way!!
Life would be dull if we all agreed! But I certainly respect your
judgments...
