What if it weren't a Quattro

I've got an A4Q also. A '97 2.8L. It's a great car. It does not handle as
well as an M3. It's not as performance oriented as a 328 either. It -is- a
better car for driving in Seattle in the winter, especially up the hill I
live on, and it's no slouch, but it's no BMW either.

BMWs mostly have:
   Better acceleration
   Less body roll
MUCH better cornering (perhaps due to better stock tyres)

A4Q has:
Better acceleration/cornering on tentative surfaces (like Cougar Mountain
much of the winter)
Better fit and finish (by far! BMW 3-series interiors are not well-refined)
   More comfortable ride

Hey, I -like- my A4Q. I kept my last car for 10 years and 110000 miles (and
it was a cheap Ford Escort), so I figured I would buy whatever friggin' car
I wanted. If I wanted a Porche, I would have gotten one. I wanted the Audi
A4Q, stickshift, black, black leather. I had to wait for quite a while for
it, but I got it. But let's keep some perspective - it's an Audi, not a
BMW. They have a different focus. I would bet that purchasers of BMW
3-series cars are younger and more aggressive in general than purchasers of
Audi A4s. The handling reflects that.

And, as I've said here before, if not for Quattro, I'd be driving something
else with A/4WD.
