Re: Daytime Running Lights



I agree with Bob 100% on this issue: using DRLs to solve the problem of
drivers not paying attention is the wrong solution.

We've just had a stupid law change here, that somehow seems to promote
using your (main beam) lights during daytime.(parking lights are prohibited
except when you're actually parked) This automatically makes those not
using their lights *less* noticable. Not a big problem for cars, but
pedestrians and cyclists are not so fortunate.
Besides, in Holland most cars are not equipped with a/c, or other
power-eaters, so lights have a relatively large impact on overall mileage.
It was calculated that the difference in mileage can be up to 10%_ enormous
when you reckon with all those millions of cars driving with lights
switched on.
People running w/o lights in the dark are very rare here, fortunately.

So, I'd say: use your *lights* only when it's getting dark, or in bad
weather- and use your *eyes* at all times.
