Re: Lights / Lumens

Before Aero's, when I was in college, a friend of mine had an Alfa. It had four round (5 3/4") lights which he replaced with Euro rounds. That was my first taste of the upcut right light. A fellow with a 2002 had a similar setup but I believe with 2 lights total. Yes, the upcut reflected back in fog. On an island in Maine, that was almost every time used.

They weren't perfect, but very natural & better thought out than US version. I am extrapolating, but I can see where a 7" would be better than 5 3/4", like comparing 35mm with 2 1/4". The error of, say for example, a millimeter or less in shape or molding of the reflector, or placement of the bulb (do we think that each bulb is exactly the same?), would be less percentage wise in a larger unit than in a smaller one.

The Euro aero lights probably do some things very well, I have not tried them yet. The bulb placement error could make less of a difference than in a 5 3/4" round or what ever the squares lights measure. They may be the precursor to the new FF (freeform) reflectors which allow the engineers to bend the light into different shapes & even out the dispersion. I think this is used in the Hella XL's & the Mercedes E series.

Checked with Extang, they no longer sells Lexan lense covers. The company which bought the division, Lund Industries 800 328 9005, do not do custom, only prefab.

Daytime_Running of_Lights. A year ago a little red car came from the left lane of the highway into my lane. All of a sudden I saw a red blur to my left. What!, then I moved right. When he hit me, I had my drivers side into the middle or past that of my lane. His front passanger quarter panel & tire hit my LR door & wheel well. I am dam glad there were no other vehicles around us, & we didn't fishtail etc. If I had lights on I might have been more visible......, if I had been looking around more I should have seen him come up on me, the millisecond of _What!_ might have been too much time, you don't think people are playing bumper cars with you at the highway speed limit or above. He proudly told me it was his first accident in over a year.......

Passing in the right lane, another example of government regulation.
