Just bought 1991 V8 5 Speed.
All,
I did it. Jumped in to the q experience with two feet. Picked up the
Black Beauty on Saturday from a dealer. Exterior - excellent. Service
records mostly intact. 63k miles. Two owners. Black Connolly, comfort
seats. Dealer changed front pads - no problems with rotor, timing belt
in good order. New Pirelli's all around. Comes with 3,000 mile - 3
month warranty.
Rides great. Didn't have much chance to play this weekend. I run up to
Albany NY weekly (120 miles one way). Should get to it next week. They
get a ton of snow, so I got the best defense, an Audi Q. (My kids are
excited about the rear seat heaters.!)
Paid too much, $20k, but what the hell, my wife will still be spending
money I don't have long after I am gone.
Two immediate questions:
1. The lattice BBS wheels are quite pitted. The dealer said his guy
can refinish for $400. That sounds cheaper than a new set, but I could
coerced into a new set. Any recommendations?
2. The factory stereo (Blaupunkt Audi/Bose) is lacking a cd player.
The stereo shops I talked to are afraid of the proprietary Audio
system. They will only recommend adding an CD changer through RF. How
bad an idea is this. Any recommendations?
Thanks to all who gave me input on the what the car is worth. Looking
forward to 100k of Q driving!
