Re: DRLs
Sometime ago I wrote that I got the info that driving with the lights on
(55W main beams + taillights) would add 10% to fuel consumption. I can't
really check this info and agree that it would depend on more factors than
lights alone. Still, I keep tabs on my fuel usage and have checked these
figures.
If I drive the same route (mostly highway) every week at the same time,
with a similar driving style and speed, I get about the same difference
(+8-10%) for 'lights on' and 'lights off'. Otherwise I get a fairly
consistent fuel usage figure (+/-2%). I thought this difference rather high
myself too...
BTW I've eliminated other consumption sources, like rear heater, blower
etc. This is for summer use only, same temp. No a/c, p/s etc etc.
Just my Dfl. 0.02 (not corrected for inflation and exchange rates)

PS I went to a model car swapmeet last Sat and was glad I brought my
camera. Two beautiful UrQs, one Tornadorot, one blazing yellow. Took a
couple of shots of both. The yellow one had what appeared to be a grill for
an additional oil cooler cut into the front air dam. Looked a bit homemade,
but quite rally car-like.
