Re: Cold Start valve commonly bad?

I had an 85' 5000s that had 125,000 miles when I sold it and the cold
start valves never went bad. The thermo-time switch that control the
cold start valve did go bad at around 100,000 miles. It caused some
starting problem. If the thermo-time switch is bad then the cold start
valve may be opening at the wrong time. The thermo-time switch is located
at back of the engine block i.e. the end facing the firewall for the five
cylinders engine. Check that the thermo-time switch, it could be the
cause of the starting problem rather the actual cold start valve.
