Check system

Hey Y'all,

I have something (not so) funny going on with the check system of my '89
200TQ.  The check coolant icon has started (last night on the way home from
dinner with my better half) coming on every time the car is started.  

The coolant level was a bit low - perhaps a teacup low - and is now right up
to snuff.  It is not over-heating.  The heater works just fine.  I've
checked the connector for the level sensor in the coolant overflow tank.  It
seems ok.

Does one half of the multifunction switch provide a signal for the check
system?  The temperature gauge is working just fine.
