There was an announcement on 1/15/97 that the Southampton Town Council voted 
4-1 to close the
track and sell the land to developers looking to make it into a golf 
course/condos.   Since my local PCA region drives here twice a year, I'm 
p*ssed to say the least.   Just what we need: another golf course!
This has been planned for a few years with every track date being the last 
date for the last 3 years so I still have hope.   This is a very challenging 
13 turn track with a lot of racing history.  What a shame!
My last time there, I rode in a 350hp 2.8l 951 which would do Turn 1 (sharp 
downhill right-hander) at 120mph!
