You shouldn't be reluctant to have your dealer take care of this.
After all, this is what the 3year/50K Audi Advantage is for.
I had my dealer fix this, and they did a good job. Someone once mentioned
that this is a technical service bulletin item published by Audi, so
the dealer should know what to do. You may want to mention this to
your dealer.
BTW, amidst all the horror stories about dealer service, my experience
with the dealer has been quite satifactory. They made sure that I
was happy with the work and took the time to all my questions. Several
days after the service, I got a call from a survey agency asking me to
rate the service. It appears that Audi is earnestly trying to improve
the customer satisfaction.
