European visit
Yes, fellow quattrophiles, I'm back!
Just returned from Germany (with an extended side trip to Austria).
Unfortunately, didn't have a chance to visit any salvage yards or other
points of Quattro parts interest.
However, since I was lucky enough to visit Lech in the Vor Arlberg region of
Austria, I did see six or seven A-8's (all with steel winter wheels and
tires), one S-3 wagon, a fair amount of A-4 and A-4 wagons and the new A-3
wagons. The A-3's have had very nice reviews and are quite attractive, and
most of the A-4 and A-3 models were diesel! Why? Cost of fuel. In Austria
fuel ran 10 schillings/ltr diesel-12 shillings/liter super, or about $3.85-
$4.20 /U.S. gallon (my sympathies, Phil).
While the skiing was great, I'm happy to be back home and on the q-list.
While I'm not usually a fan of wagons, those new A-4 and A-3 versions would
make me think twice.
