Daily Dividends of AWD

"Perhaps we should coin a new phrase to get out of this race
conditions/street conditions quandry and call what I am advocating
"Daily dividends of AWD"."

This was written but not posted before the Jeep vs Quattro
BS showed up. Talk about comparing apples and oranges!)

Two examples from our many positive experiences:

Last September, midweek, driving Blewett pass (US 97), just me ('90 90 cq)
and an RX7 on the road, snow/sleet/rain. Not "racing" but driving
enthustically. I didn't "win", but he definitely reached the edge of his
comfort zone significantly sooner than I reached mine.

Driving from Kennewick to Everett (WA) the day after Christmas in the storm
that shut down I 90 and Stevens Pass (US 2), hit everything: snow, compact
ice, ice rain, white-outs from blowing powder snow (on the East side), Took
Blewett and drove through miles of unplowed new snow just outside
Ellensberg. Spent two nights in Leavenworth, Blasted out at 6:00 Saturday
AM, got home and listened to the neighbors complain about how tough it was
getting around town in the snow! We had a great time and lots of fun, even
if it was in the Cherokee.

Any time traction is a issue, AWD is a factor, (along with tires, brakes,
driver experience, etc.). The rest of the time, Quattro is something that
makes our car a little different and a lot more interesting than the
bizillion other cars out there, and that is not all bad.
