Rear brakes bleeding
To all of you that are interested in brakes,
A couple weeks ago I attempted to change my brake fluid (86 5Kcstq), I
rigged a presure cap and proceeded to bleed the system:
Fronts (calipers were OK) bled the brake fluid without a problem
Rear, not a drop (maybe, a couple drops but not more)
Try to bleed manually, same as above
Brakes OK (rear) at least when I checked on the hoist, apply brakes,
calipers move,
Advice (from the list):turn off ABS- no difference
bleed master cylinder-no difference
push pedal with a bar-no difference
increase air pressure (on bleeder set-up)-no
difference
move proportioning valve-no difference
pray a lot-no difference
promise god to sacrifice my first born-no
difference
And the guilty party is, the brake proportioning valve, there is brake
fluid flow up to the "in" of the proportioning valve but no "out".
I disassembled the brake prop. valve and could not find any problem, blew
air through it and it seems to work OK.
I am having a new/used valve coming (hurry up Chris), I will update you on
brake phase 2 shortly.
I did change my fluid again from Pentosin (DOT 4 brake fluid) to DTE blue
fluid, works good.
