Noisy Can Purge Valve

My 1993 90CS has excessive can. purge valve noise.  I need to know if 
anything can be done to correct this problem, besides going to the dealer 
and paying $200 for the valve.  I also need to know where it's located.  The 
source of the noise is from the middle of the dash by the firewall, but I 
noticed there are about seven or more connections and not one of connections 
look like a valve.  Please help me fix this problem.  Thanks.
