Yes, it will "filter" out the AC ripple, but the "filtering" is not lost
when you take the power directly from the alternator; it is just not as
"clean". Still, this ripple is small and shouldn't significantly affect
bulb life. More detrimental is the higher voltage that you get by using
relays from the alternator/battery to get power to the headlamps. Bulbs
rated at 12V will simply not last as long when operated at 14V.
