I'm sure it's a different design but I removed the airbag wheel from my 200q
without any problems ... believe it or not, but I just followed the
directions in the Bentley manual. (And, Yes, when the time came to remove
the wheel from the car, I DID stand off to one side, just in case...)
BTW, has anyone else converted their airbag-equipped car over to a MOMO?
The combo switch in my '89 200q was of a different design than the one in my
'87 5k and while the hub adapter itself fits, the horn doesn't work. I
temporarily solved this problem by having an adapter machined to fit but it
squeaks and I haven't been able to solve this ... since my combo switch is
starting to show signs of needing replacement, I've been wondering if the
early-style switch from a non-airbag 200q will work instead? I've checked
with MOMO and they list but one hub adapter for these cars, and the guy I
talked with clearly didn't want to discuss anything that had to do with
removing the airbag ... guess the lawyers have them scared pretty well!
Any advice will be appreciated ... and spare me the lectures about airbags.
I've researched this topic quite thoroughly (been following it since I
started engineering school 18 years ago) and am comfortable with having made
the decision to remove the one from my car...
