Hello. I was at my dealer today and much to my chagrin found out that my car
might get here quicker than expected. So- I am ramping up my marketing.
Those interested in my 1990 Coupe Quattro can now experience service with a
smile and competitive pricing. i have priced the car at my dealer and have
come up with what I think is fair. Anyone who wishes to give me advice on
this, please feel free.
Thanks again,

I don't know the company, but I do know the models. "PMA," for instance,
stands for Pauls Model Art. I have several of these models and find them
outstanding in both detail and execution. The prices listed on the site
mentioned in the post above seem very fair, compared to what I have paid for

No self-serving interest in either the vendor or the companies mentioned, but
it sounds like the prices are fair.

This never occured to me before.
But it's a fact that, in all of the slides I have taken of the Annual General
Meetings, Coy's, the Woburn event with the Sport quattro Club, etc., not _ONE_
of the cars I've captured on film has additional accessory lighting mounted on
the front. Not one.
What would be the result of assembling 200+ USA-based ur-quattros together?

Well, I was doing some calling around on V8 parts on Yesterday and I
want to know how Audi gets away with these prices?! Actually, I want to
know how you guys deal with the prices of these parts. These cars make
UrQ's look like Yugo's!!!!
Example: Distributor cap: $179x2!!! Rotor is NOT available. Top end
gasket set: $489.00!! $417 for the three timing belt tensioners. $350 for
a water pump???....are they joking?
My questions are as follows: Where do you V8 owners get your parts. Are
you actually paying dealer prices or is there a better source? Linda? What
am I missing here?
No wonder the resale of these cars is terrible! :(
Please help me out on this one...it's going to kill me!

The area code is (602) ... btw, this car first appeared for sale at $26,900
a month ago so I imagine there is a bit of room for negotiating. I wonder
if they'd consider taking an '89 200q or '85 Ur-Q in partial trade? ;^)
Although my schedule is pretty hectic this next week, I'll be happy to take
a look at the car and/or arrange to have an independent Audi specialist give
it the once-over ... just let me know.

Wow, that's an interesting observation. Having traveled throughout Europe,
I can say that the conditions you drive under there are more demanding at
night from a structural (fewer streetlamps, narrower roads, larger % of two
lane roads) standpoint. But the structural advantages we enjoy in the US
are largely offset by the incredible glare of oncoming traffic we simply
tolerate. US lamps produce *far* more glare (light where it doesn't
belong). Nobody who has had the pleasure of night driving on a European
two laner with an oncoming line of cars whose headlamps simply look like
glowing glass globes could possibly disagree. Someday the US will adopt
the EC standards, but not until the dull witted US headlamp makers have had
several more years of protection and profits........:-(

While you consider the other responses, don't miss the easy and
obvious: check ALL the hoses in the crankcase breather system!! The
multi-port hose at the rear of the valve cover and the large diameter
hose feeding it are notorious for going bad...and a leak there means
low idle.

Just saw the Car & Drivel brief review of the A4 1.8T, and was shocked to
see that it has a mere 150 hp - precisely as much as a <gag> Neon, which
is probably lighter, to boot. What possesses Audi to send us such
wimpmobiles? Now, 300 hp, THAT would be a power to weight ratio to
conjure with (still inferior to the Europe-only RS2)!

It is also known that alcohol decreases electrical resistance of a human

Engine vacuum creates a negative pressure in the (4) solenoid valves
inside the A/C programmer. When the engine gets shut off, this negative
pressure sucks the oil vapour inside the valves. The valve has a rubber
membrane that does the actual sealing of the vacuum line-to-atmosphere
port. This rubber is not oil resistant. The membrane gets swollen and
seals both ports (vac line and atmospheric) simultaneously => the
solenoid valve stops working.
I once managed to fix it by fabricating a new rubber membrane and
installing it inside the valve - too much trouble. Since then I just get
a used A/C programmer from a bone yard and desolder the valve(s) that
does not have oil in it's port and use it as a donor for a programmer to
be repaired. But you better install that in line filter if you don't
want to repair the A/C programmer on a routine basis.

In my previous 5000s I mounted two of them (oil and volt) in place of 4
blanks where other cars had trip computer (and maybe something else).
That required the removal of partitions between each pair of
horisontally adjacent ones. I also had to fabricate 2 black square
plastic inserts with the round holes in them in order to mount the round
gauges in the square openings. The finished look was very OEM and
location was perfect.

The stock fitment for my car is 205/60/15 on BBS with 45mm offset.
I am running 205/55/16 Dunlop SP8000 on MOMO Ferrari with 38mm offset.
The offset difference has thrown my wheels outwards so that tyres
started to rub rear fenders in fast sharp corners on a track. In order
to remedy this problem, I had to roll the rear fender lips outwards.
The effect of this plus one conversion on the cars' handling was HUGE!
