It's a small point, but battery lovers will note that the A4 battery does
indeed live under the hood, but in the fresh air plenum at the rear, not in
the engine compartment. Semantics? Yes, in part. But it's important to
note that the A4 plenum is rather well sealed from the engine compartment
temperature extremes. This will promote battery life as well as getting the
battery itself out of the impact area for many common front end accidents.
Ever see a split battery case after a modest accident?
Another small observation. Next time you are under the hood of an A4, take a
look at the sheetmetal wall that divides the engine compartment from the
fresh air plenum. Notice how it seems more substantial than a simple
partition needs to be? Notice that it tie the shock towers together? Sheet
metal multi-tasking!
