urq wheels/tires

listers, could some one clear up a problem I am having with tire/wheels 
on "83tqc. the car has h&r springs,bilstein struts and bbs/rf wheels
8jx16 et34. the rear tires rub the wheel wells (actually the front edge 
of the rear valance where it wraps into the wheel opening) on some dips 
and bumps. the bently says 8jx15 e24 is the correct size/offset. does the 
10mm differance in the offset cause this? if so what tire would fit that 
wheel without the interference? the tire does not hit the top of the 
wheel arch. anybody btdt?any suggestions? tia.
