Chrysler AWD sysetems
Someone wrote that the AWD chrysler minivans only put 10% of power to the
rear wheels. That is true in dry conditions. In slippery conditions it
transfers more torque through. The Chrysler AWD systems are pretty good.
Especially the top of the line system in the Grand Cherokee. They are not
to be scoffed at, especially on a list that defends Subaru so much.
Chrysler is not so bad a company. Speaking of AWD, chrysler has developed
a way to make a very simple awd system for a neon based sport utility. The
car will fight the RAV4 and Suzuki models and it will sell supposedly for
only $13K. I don't know about you all, but I find that pretty impressive.
Incidentally for all of you Outback fans who claim they are better than
Jeeps Cherokees. Jeep will not get a model, as all Jeeps must be built to
do the Rubicon Trail. That is a quote from Bob Lutz himself. The mini SUV
will be a Plymouth.
Were Paul Hogan to be chased down the Rubicon Trail in his outback, he'd
get caught by the two ugly dudes if they were in their Grand Cherokee. Keep
in mind Subaru makes no claims against the Jeep other than gas mileage, and
they compare it to a Grand Cherokee V6 or V8 and not a Cherokee 4cyl.
There's a big difference. The claims in handling they make are against the
Blazer and stopping against the Explorer.
To quote R&T who have road tested the Grand Cherokee pulled .72 lateral
Gs. Our cousin the Golf GL only does .75 and that's a german engineered
CAR.
Just because Chrysler is not Audi does not mean that they deserve to be
trashed.
