I know people ignore my rambling posts. But come on! I thought you guys
are good at detective works after years around Audi gremblins!
The reason is that, THAT 2.8 is the 30-valve V6. As John stated, he read
off of UK Car magazine. Most people know that the SOHC 12-valve V6 we
currently getting in our A4 and A6 was never available in UK in any of
their V6 models. They had the 2.6 liter version of it.
The Car's listing has both 2.6 & 2.8 -- what they didn't clarify is that
the 2.8 is the 30-valver. Ditto for their "2.8" A6. They had the 30-valve
V6 option since January of 1996.
I think before the advent of 2.8, UK Audiphiles have long complained their
"wimpy" 2.6 liter against the SOHC 2.8 we (and Germans) had.
