Tales of an S4, S6 and a Volvo 850TWagon....

Hi guys,

While I was driving across the northern half of NJ trying to locate some
Mobil 1 5w30, I was tooling (65) up 287, with a car in front of me, when a
dk. green Volvo850wagon (I'm assuming it's the turbo) came up behind me after
the guy in front of me pulled out of the slow lane. I figured he was trying
to show off, and as I was in the S4 (in 5th gear, at 65), I floored it, but
the guy kept moving up, *and* FAST!! I decided that I didn't need to
downshift, as I was in the maximum torque range (2900rpm), so I left it
there...

I was *pissed*! I then called Paul Miller Porsche Audi in Parsippany (used
cars), where I bought my coupeQ, and asked them if they had an S6 around.
They had just got one in, so I went over to take a test drive and compare it
to my output...guess what? It was even slower!! (That's probably because the
car hasn't been broken in yet, and I *wasn't* "flogging" it) The car is
heavier, and has a crisp turn-in, with the nice sports steering wheel. It may
have been hit on the driver's side door....and it's got 19Kmi. If anyone
wants one, you can call Jeff at (201)575-7750. The sales manager is Michael
Eichvalds. No interest in this one, but just reporting the rare one around
here....in case anybody wants one. They're asking $ 41,900, but who knows how
negotiable they are...

I'm going to try chipping my S4, and if I still get nailed by a
Volvo...that's it!! Don't they only have 222 hp vs. the S4's 227?? Even the
above mentioned salesman said that they were "fast", and he started getting
exited, so something's there....any comments? (Besides on my driving! I know
I should have tried to downshift, as the V's autobox would have been doing
that in order to accelerate!)
