Re: Protecting Leather Seats

OK, I have much experience here!

First off, DON NOT USE SON OF A GUN, or any other Armor All (silicone bas
ed product) on leather! It will clog up the pores and is actually worse for le
ather than leaving it unconditioned!

I highly reccomend using both the Lexol cleaner and conditioner. And, it
is best to use both, even if your leather is not dirty! I think the cleaner ha
s something in it that softens the leather and makes it easier to condition. A
nd, the conditioner adds moisture and protects your leather. Very good.

I have also heard good things about Zymol Treat (leather conditioner).
I have no experience with this product, but if it is anything like other Zymol
products, than it is probably very good.

I have some Hide Food too. This stuff is a creme and is very good to us
e if your leather is real dried out and cracked (good for replentishing abused
leather). But, it is also much harder to use, and it is not easy to spread eve
nly. This is very time consuming and I do not reccomend it for frequent condit
ioning of the interior. If you keep your interior in decent shape, you should
not have to use this stuff. But, if you need to, it can be found at your local
Jaguar, SAAB, or BMW dealer.

Also, one more note. If you are going to do this, make sure you do this
in sunlight or make sure the leather is warm before using a conditioner. It
will absorb easier into the leather and make life a lot easier. Just a suggest
ion from your detailing buddy, Dan. I had to detail a car a few weeks ago and
it was very cold outside and I kept having to use a hairdryer to keep the leath
er warm while conditioning it. Not fun folks! Wait for a warm day to do this.
Sorry for the lomg bandwidth, but hope this helps.
