I don't usually use a tork wrench on the plugs to remove them.  I do pay 
attention to the angle of the wrench to make sure I don' break off the 
insulator.   I suspect that I exceed 60 ft-lbs regularly, removing old 
plugs that others hvae installed.

Have you tried it with engine hot?
