Minor problems
Quattrophiles,
Now that my car is back from it's alignment (new rear diff. mounts and tie
rod end), I want to take care of the some minor annoying problems. These
problems have to do with items on the steering column. I would like to
avoid disassembly of the column if possible.
a. Wipers - the intermittent does not work at all, and when I return to
stalk to position zero, the wipers
stop wherever they happen to be. The only way to get them back to
their starting position is to
hold the wiper stalk in the intermittent position until the wipers
return to where I want them, and
then to quickly move the stalk to position zero. This is a real
pain in light rain because I have to
micro-manage the wiper operation just to get one sweep of the
windshield. Is this a relay
problem? By the way, when I turn the wipers on the normal or fast
speed they work okay - that
is until I try to stop them (see above).
b. Right lane changer on turn signal stalk - All features of cruise/turn
signals work accept for the
right lane changer. I have to move the stalk over to the right turn
position and then manually
return it to center. Is there a contact in there that may be
corroded or loose?
Thanks in advance for any help with these matters. I know that they are
minor problems, but I would suspect that some other 4KQ owners have
experienced and fixed them.
