Re: O2 sensor? What? Where?
-- [ From: Huw Powell * EMC.Ver #3.1a ] --
I seem to be getting HORRIBLE milage on my '93 90CS. Also, the engine seems
to be laboring a little bit, especially around 2700-3500rpm. My two ideas
for this were clogged catalytic converter or bad O2 sensor. ..OK, I give up.
..
WHERE THE *&$ IS IT??!!
Am I even on the right track anyway?
Probably. The oxs is located in the exhaust pipe. I don't know where on
your car but start looking at the manifold and follow it back. It will be a
tubular thingie screwed into the pipe, with a wire or wires coming from it.
should be easy to replace. $70 to $100 or so to buy. You need a special
socket with a side slot for the wires to tighten the new one. They come
with instructions and crimp connector and heat shrink tubing for the wires.
For the cat, you have to look at it (fun) try dropping the pipe before or
after it and look at it. It should be one piece of honeycomb, if it looks
eroded or crumbled it may have lost some bits, which then go back to the
muffler and jam up there. You can also shake it, in place. if it rattles,
bad sign. Have you also verified your plug, plug wire, rotor, cap, air
cleaner quality?
