... actually he was correct. If there is a sticker under the hood that
states that the car meets CA emissions standards, then there will be
no problem registering the car in CA ... and I doubt there would be any
issue about a car with less than 7500 miles. I was not aware that cars
sold out of CA were getting these stickers. I'd still suggest that the
purchaser make sure that this will be the case on the car they will be
receiving ...
I've got the opposite problem. I just brought a CA car back into CA ... and
even though the CA emissions option code is obvious, the fact that there isn't
a "Meets CA emissions" sticker I'm going to be paying $300 that will be refunded after the DMV contacts Audi to confirm that it does ... :(
... all they look for is the sticker ... if it's there they don't even run
the VIN to see if the car really was built to CA requirements. More
evidence that they really don't care about the environment or anything else
other than their bureaucracy ... my only satisfaction is that it will cost
them money to determine that they need to return my $300, but I'm paying
that too ...
