I am proud to say that I am the owner of an 85 4000s quattro
which is over 300,000 miles (actual figure cannot be determined due
broken odometer, but I am very confident it passed the 300,000 mark
quite some time ago.) The car is on original engine, tranny, head, the
works. I've owned it for two years and the only thing that I have had
to replace is the fuel pump. Friggin awesome. I think that as long as
the car is cared for (regular oil changes, etc...) you could expect it
to last that long. The car still runs beautifully I can also boast! I
am NOT at all nice to the car when I drive( I did 115mph recently) and
it comes back for more. I'm curious if I have the highest miles, surely
there must be someone else out there with comparable mileage on an
original engine and tranny?
