Howdy,
Last night I heard about a local car that seems a good deal:
* 87 4000S - should have the MG engine, ie. 1.8L
* 107 BHP@5500, 105 FT/LBS@3250, 10.0:1 compression
* 125K miles
* No records, its an auction car.
I currently have an 86 CGT with the KX engine
* 110 BHP@5500, 122 FT/LBS@2500, 8.5:1 compression
So I figure I'm pretty damn familiar with this auto except the
engine...plus I think it has a different 5 speed. Believe it or not, I'm
interested in it for the four doors and trunk..not to mention a little fun
fixing it up (shocks, springs, bushings, tires, etc) for a better ride.
Any experience/advice...especially with the 10:1 compression MG engine?
I plan to go check it out tomorrow (Saturday). My take is that with good
care, Audi's get >200K miles...albeit it takes more than just oil/tune-ups!
This seems like a deal/steal.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks,
Rich Rutledge
