I'm not sure, but I think you missed the four (?) bolts on
the A/C compressor mounting bracket which allow it to be
moved inwards (towards the engine). The belt comes off with
no trouble if you do that.

Hmm ... they must have changed the design a *lot* on the 200's:
on my 5KT, you don't have to remove the gear to remove the cover
plate.

You seem to have had a lot rougher time with this than I did,
Al ... it was no picnic for me, but I encountered no show-stoppers
of the kind you describe: it just took a while. In light of what
you say, maybe I should reconsider doing my '91 200Q.
