QTC: Sunroof

I looked into the sunroof on the urQ yesturday and even though everything
is still in process I thought I'd post what I know so far. Chuck Leiter
told me that he ended up replacing the whole frame, and it wasn't too bad
a task to DIY. My sunroof crank would turn without acivating anything else
in the sunroof mechanism. I found that the crank mechanism is attached to
the roof using two screws that are accessible from the sunroof opening. In
my case one of the screws is stripped out. The mechanism consists of two
stiff coils of wire, one to activate each side of the sunroof. The crank
mechanism has a gear that engages these coils to lift and lower the sunroof.

I inspected the gear and the coils and nothing looks worn, so I'm thinking
that if I repair that stripped out screw so that I can thighten everything
back together that my sunroof will be working again.

I'd appreciate hearing any experiences of others in this regard, as well
as ideas for how the "spring" mechanism can be cleaned & lubricated.
