Subject: Re: A4 remote locks
Mine is a 96 and sometimes it takes a few squeeze before it works and
sometimes need to be within 5-7 feet before it works, not like the manual
says. Reported the problem at 1000 miles service, "...working within
specifications..." was the response. Its 14000 miles now and growing use
to
the feature ..... Just like my on-off vibrating accelerator
pedal....<<<<<<<<<<<<

I have had no problems with my remote locking. It works great on my A4Q
Maybe what I have written below will help. It's worth a try.
To get your remote locking to respond better, I have found that holding the
end of the fob up to your chin and then pressing the lock or unlock button
extends the range. I used to have a Clifford Car Alarm in my Honda, and I
could almost double the range by holding the fob up to my chin.
Matter-a-fact, I think this was even stated in the book of my Clifford
alarm. Anyway give it a try and let me know what you think.
Also, I have found that the remote locking and unlocking works better if
you hold the button on the fob down for about 1-2 seconds rather then just
a quick push.
Well I hope this helps a little bit. Good Luck
