That's pretty unlikely.  I had some early electrical problems with the
UBERWGN, that turned out to be completely unrelated to the detector.
The dealer did remove the detector to verify that he problems persisted
without it, but there was never any mention of anything as silly as
voiding the warranty.

Now I suppose if you actually did end up breaking something when you
installed the detector that they may not want to fix that under
warranty.  So it may be best to do the installation in a manner that
can be removed without leaving any telltale traces behind.  The V1 came
with a clamp-on power pickup that would pierce the insulation on a wire
and establish contact without actually cutting the wire, and when you
took it off you could easily overlook the tiny slit in the insulation
that resulted.  The ground wire you just screwed down anywhere.
