RE: Love Bug Alert (travel advisory) -Reply

I came across a reference to the Unser/Quattro event you mentioned. Wasn't a
Sport Quattro but a 200 sedan modified to develop some 650hp on its five small
cylinders. Seems like the lap speed was like 207mph or close to that... don't
remember the top speed but had to have been around 230 at the end of the
straights. Happened at Talladega circa '92. Regards, Gross Scruggs, 87 5kTQ

SPEEDWEEKS!! This is on my list of places to go things to see. Forget the oil,
lets live and breathe racing for two weeks! The Daytona 500 will be pretty
boring though. Restrictor plates plus a couple other new rules for '97 make the
race one long line of cars in the draft. For those outside the U.S. I'm talking
about Winston Cup StockCar racing.
Bring back the SuperBird! That car turned laps over 200mph 27 years ago.
Today? 189mph and lots of multicar pile ups.
I heard that Bobby Unser once turned some pretty hot laps in a Sport
Quattro (not the Pike's Peak car) on one of our superspeed ways. Anyone know the
numbers or what track?
