UFO's weight etc

I've just replaced the UFO's on my 90 V8. Contary to the info which was
posted a while back, their is only a maginal saving in unsprung weight.

The total weight of the new struts, calipers & rotor was 23.1kg vs 26.54
for the ufo setup. (These weights do not include shock, spring top mounts or
pads) All in all, stuff all. Anyone considering replacing their UFO's
should do so only because of the ongoing cost of the rotors.

The major difference in driving the new setup relates to the Cool Carbon
pads I've fitted. Awesome! Fantastic etc. Compared to anything else I've
tried on any car, these pads leave the others for dead! (ok I admit I
havent tried Pagids good compounds) Certainly compared to my previous
favorite pads- Metal Masters, I can confidently comment-Slagmasters suck!

Having said that, I reckon that the best setup for these cars (short of
goimg to 17" wheels with 325mm rotors & a good 4pot caliper) would be UfO's
& CC's. While I've got better brakes than I had last week, thats because of
the pads not because I lost 20% of the swept area of the rotor.

Cheers
