Re: (was) start then stall 4kq (is) 4kq ECU Fuse
In a note dated 2/13/97
>>While trying to resolve an unrelated problem, I once removed a fuse from
what I presumed to be the spare fuse holder to the side of the box in my '85
4KSQ. It wasn't. The fuse I pulled evidently controlled some gizmo (love
those technical terms) in the fuel injection system.<<
Yup...BTDT too. The fuse is for the ECU.
>>When I started up, the car exhibited symptoms exactly like those you're
describing. Unlike the fuses arranged in neat rows, the varmint I emoved is
not held securely in place and offers no resistance to being pulled.<<
Yup...it isn't marked on the fuse box sticker, it isn't clearly shown in the
Bentely Manual either. As a "know's enough to be dangerous" wrench, and a
professional electronic tech for >20 years I got bit by this one too.
>>My mechanic thought it was hilarious when AAA flatbedded the car to her
shop and she had it running perfectly in about three seconds.<<
Mine too...but I was lucky as I did this about 70 miles from home and my car
ran well enough to drive it.
