Re: Sunroof blues
In a note dated 2/13/97 Jeffrey Smethers asks:
<<I encountered a problem today with the sunroof on my '86 4KCSQ. When I go
to close the roof, the motor action is very slow. It actually stopped
mid-close and I had to keep pushing the toggle switch again and again until
it finally shut completely.<...>Anyone with ideas, or similar experiences?>>
Yup...mine too. If you de-grease and re-lube the tracks (rails?) it gets
better (ditto for windows). I have heard various lubes advised and have tried
silicon sprays, Tri-Flow, etc. My most recent time I used this synthetic
white grease for my bicycle...works good so far but was kinda smelly the
first few days. The key is cleaning ALL the old sludgy grease out-and don't
forget underneath and the sides of the tracks. Could also be switch contacts
and/or motor going south. Good Luck! HTH
