RE: Daytona 500 redux

Bob, NASCAR officials were standing there to make sure what was left
of the car was secured to the frame. They are very, very cautious about
junk on the track and will throw a yellow flag to clear the smallest
piece of junk from the track. They also must use a tape called 200mph
tape(duct tape if you will)
This tape is tested in wind tunnels as is the cars.
Without the aerodynamics the car at best could only circle the track at
limited speeds and would be forced from the field if a) he got in the
way of competitors or b) could not maintain a minimum speed. In other
words Bob, no, if the car is unsafe they will make him park it.
I carry a roll of the tape with me too and have used it to limp my
damaged cars home from those occasional altercation on Hwy17. I used it
to tape down my hood and to keep my radiator/fan out of the oil flange
on the Scirocco once. Also used it tape up a girls pickup truck she
bounced between the walls on the same Hwy so she could get home. Belongs
in everybody's tool box!
