Re: Daytona 500 redux

     Bob,

You may not like NASCAR, but to say it sucks is kinda childish! Anyways
, I should have been more specific in my post. Yes, they did just tape up the
car, but with racer's tape. This is just like duct tape but much stronger and
meant for such uses. I don't know if any of you saw the 24-Hours of Daytona ra
ce last week on ESPN, but the windshield on a BMW M3 race car got shattered and
they had to pull in to replace it. They did not have time to secure a new one
in place since the race was almost over, so they just taped it in! Many Audis
finnished thanks to duct tape back in the old rally days! Lotsa duct tape!!!!
Like my dad taught me "If a little duct tape won't fix it, a whole lot of it wi
ll fix the hell out of it!"

Also, no they did not just let the car go back out there. There were NA
SCAR techs there to look over the car and make sure it was safe to go on the tr
ack again. It was a hell of a crash, but these cars are VERY durable and are d
esighned to take some serious hits before they are through.

                                                              Later,
